I have been looking at a few artwork of a few artists for my Digipak, and have come at a few that I like and would fit in my with my Print Productions. I have had a look at some artists that I connected with e.g. Cheryl Cole, the artwork of her debut album 3 Words, what I liked about the artwork is the font used to write the information of the album.
I've had a looking at other artist that influence the artist, such as Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Queen etc.
With the artworks I have researched, the artworks always feature the artist because the focus would be on them, with my artwork I am planning to not only have focus on the artist but also have the artist in a naturalistic environment to show how a person being in a different environment would have an impact on their emotions and on the songs in the album.
The album artwork also shows how the use of effects can have an impact on how the songs and genre the artist is, take Celine Dion for example, the artwork for her album Unison shows heartbreak and the use of the black and white effect signifies pain from past romantic experiences etc.
The Celine Dion cover art is generically the most appropriate. This style of image lacks the pop glam of the cover art of the other celebrity artists. The performers in your music video are not represented as glamorised/commercialised pop artists. Think very carefully about your target audience and the way you've represented your artist as serious performer rather than eye candy.
